Accel World Vs Sword Art Online – Which Side Are You On?

Crossover Action RPG Coming 2017

Sword Art Online has attracted many fans (and plenty of people who hate it, too).  Whatever your opinion of it, it is one of the most famous anime of recent times.

Most of the anime takes place in a virtual reality “game.” Given the popularity of that setting, there is ample opportunity for a crossover between two of these shows that take place in these VR games, and that’s just what we’re going to get in 2017.

Accel World has chosen to square off against Sword Art Online in an upcoming Action RPG coming next year.  (Don’t know what Accel World is?  Read about it here.)

Bandai Namco Entertainment opened a website on Sunday to reveal the Accel World VS Sword Art Online: Millennium Twilight video game for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Bandai Namco Entertainment plans to release the action role-playing game in Japan in 2017. The company had announced the game at the “Dengeki Bunko Aki no Saiten 2016” event on Sunday.

The video above and the game’s official website feature the tagline, “Cross through time, and the worlds of acceleration and imagination will clash.”

Both Accel World and Sword Art Online are light novel series written by Reki Kawahara. While Sword Art Online begins in 2022, Accel World takes place in 2046. Both light novel series have inspired various anime projects, manga adaptations and spinoffs, and video games.
