BABYMETAL Anime is Coming

Have you heard of BABYMETAL, the trio of hard-rocking cute stars making a big hit in the metal music industry?  They are widely praised by a variety of sources.  For example, Sam Register (President, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series) said: “Babymetal have to be seen to be believed — a mind-blowing, fun combination of pop vocals, heavy metal music and dance choreography brought to life by three incredibly talented teenage stars.

People like Ozzy, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, have also expressed positive opinions about them, and it looks like their popularity and notoriety is only growing.  And as evidence of that fact…they’re about to get an anime!

It’s going to be a shortform series, but it is nonetheless very exciting to see these iconic new stars in such a format.  We can count on the show being very musical – check out the details below the break!

Warner Bros digital studio Blue Ribbon Content and Japan’s Amuse Inc. subsidiary Amuse USA are teaming up to develop a hybrid live-action and animated shortform series series based on the pop-metal trio BABYMETAL. Creator and manager Key Kobayashi, aka Kobametal is producing.

Tatsuro Hatanaka, President, Amuse, Inc. and Amuse USA, commented: “We are grateful for Warner Bros. and Blue Ribbon Content’s interest in Babymetal, and to be moving onward with the project. We are very much looking forward to working on this project with Sam and his team, and hope everyone will enjoy our completed work.”

The premise for the series is a magical world of heavy metal music as it comes under attack, which the god Kitsune responds to by forming the warrior band Babymetal to save the day.

SU-METAL, YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL appear in live-action segements before they enter the animated world through a secret portal.
