Financial Report of Film Sales Are In

“Love Live! The School Idol Movie” premiered on June 13th of this year, and has since been steadily raking in the money (as could only be expected of the franchise).

The film is STILL going strong in theaters, and as of November, official reports came in saying that the film had earned the franchise BILLIONS of yen.  Creating this movie was obviously a good idea.

In the midst of what may seem to be a financially bleak time in the anime industry, this is pretty good news.

The former editor-in-chief of Kadokawa Shoten‘s Movie Walker website reported on Monday that Love Live! The School Idol Movie has sold 2 million tickets for over 2.8 billion yen (about US$22.7 million), as of Saturday, November 14.

The film opened in Japan about five months ago on June 13, and earned 400 million yen (about US$3.24 million) on 121 screens in its first two days.
