President Obama thanks Japan’s Prime Minister for karaoke, anime, manga, and emoji.

Well…this is certainly a thing that happened.  I could hardly believe it myself when I first read it, but I watched the video, and it’s all there.

Sometimes the world is awesome.  President Obama made these comments when Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo visited the White House on Tuesday, April 28.

This is a historic day, and I can only hope that anime and manga can continue to be spoken of positively at the highest and most public levels.  The key quote happens at 0:20.
