Many of us have heard about the World Turtle, that, according to certain mythologies, supports the whole Earth upon its back.  Did you know that there is a Pokémon based upon the World Turtle?

And that’s not even close to the only one.  The crew behind “Did You Know Gaming” recently explored some of the more famous and more obscure inspirations for various Pokémon in their video “Pokémon and Mythology.”

Be ready for shrines, Gods and fantastical tales with number of sources of inspiration from Japan, as would be expected, but also from various other religions and cultures from around the world.  Check it out below; it’s a fascinating watch.
