“The Voice” Thailand Contestant Wows Judges with “Dragon Ball Z” Theme and More

Winning With the Power of Anime

A lot of thought is put into what to sing if you’re going to participate in a competition watched by thousands of people.  A lot of unique approaches have been tried, but very few would even think of using an anime theme for their opening act.  We can confirm that this has now been done to great success.

This is during the “blind audition” stage of “The Voice,” so when it begins the judges are facing away from the contestant.  If a judge decides that a particular contestant passes, they press their buzzer to express their approval, and only then can they turn around and face the singer.

Watch it below the break!

One contestant…during the blind auditions [gave] a stirring rendition of Dragon Ball Z theme “Cha-La Head-Cha-La.” The judges dug it so much that he stuck around to sing some more classic anime themes, including Doraemon and Saint Seiya, before choosing his team leader.
